ETHDenver 2026: Side Events Decline, AI Takes Center Stage

ETHDenver 2026 experienced a significant reduction in side events, dropping from 668 in 2025 to approximately 215 this year, marking a 68% decrease. This decline is attributed to the industry’s downturn, the event’s proximity to the Lunar New Year, reduced participation from Asia, and competing events like the WLFI Forum at Mar-a-Lago. Many blockchain projects shifted to fewer, high-value side events.

Artificial Intelligence emerged as the highlight of the conference, with the Futurllama stage attracting the most attendees. Notable AI events included the OpenClaw Claws Out Summit and the Sentient Open AGI Summit, reflecting a shift in project narratives towards AI applications such as agents and chatbots. Despite the reduced scale and excitement, builders remained focused on exploring early-stage directions, with some projects beginning to outline viable business models for the next phase.
