Ethereum Activity Surge Linked to Address Poisoning
Ethereum’s network activity has surged, potentially due to address dusting attacks exploiting reduced gas fees. The number of new addresses has soared to 2.7 million, a 170% increase from typical levels, with daily transactions surpassing 2.5 million. The Fusaka upgrade, which cut transaction fees by over 60%, has facilitated these large-scale spam attacks. Currently, 3.8 million addresses have received dust assets in their initial transaction, representing 67% of new addresses. To date, 116 victims have suffered losses exceeding $740,000.
