Sanxenxo City Faces Ransomware Attack, Declines Ransom

The city government of Sanxenxo in Spain’s Galicia region suffered a ransomware attack on January 26, where hackers infiltrated the municipal network using malware. The attack encrypted thousands of administrative files and crippled the city’s servers. The attackers demanded a ransom of $5,000 in Bitcoin (BTC). However, the city government has refused to pay the ransom and has reported the incident to the Spanish Civil Guard. Officials stated they plan to restore the system using daily backups.
