Ethereum Mainnet Active Addresses Exceed L2 Networks

Ethereum’s Layer 1 network has seen a surge in daily active addresses, surpassing those of major Layer 2 networks such as Arbitrum, Base, OP Mainnet, Starknet, and Linea, according to Token Terminal data. This trend, described as a “Return to Mainnet,” highlights a shift back to Ethereum’s primary network.

Security researcher Andrey Sergeenkov noted that the recent increase in Ethereum network activity might be partly due to a rise in “address poisoning” and “dusting” attacks. These activities involve sending small amounts of cryptocurrency to wallets to disrupt user activity or track wallet behavior.
